Bigots in My Backyard
I could not believe what I saw today as i was driving home.
I was just a few blocks away from my house when I saw the following signs held
up by these protesters:

"GOD HATES FAGS"

"(picture of Matthew Shephard) = 4 YEARS IN HELL"

"WE HATE YOU"

I had no idea what was going on, so I decided to call the police department and local paper, and here's what I found.

Of course, i reacted...
'felt so much anger and bewilderment that people could believe in this with all of their being.
I had to drive around for a few minutes and call a couple of people before I could come to my senses.
Oh, and I also drove past the protesters one last time to introduce them to my middle finger. hehe! :p

Then, I came to realize that
what's best in this case
is to just
IGNORE them...just like they ignore common sense.

There's no need to add fuel to their fire.
No need to affirm their beliefs or expectations.
The best thing is to just look away and not pay any attention.
It's the best way to invalidate someone.

(sigh)
but I'm still sad and still a little shaken up. I'm ok, though, 'just...disappointed. :(

p.s. don't believe the hype...
the word, "fag", is not cool to use in any way, shape, or form (unless you're referring to a cigarette while in London).
it only continues to perpetuate (and normalize) the kind of ignorance (and the ignorant ideas already imbedded in our psyche)
as demonstrated by what I saw today.
besides, we don't need to raise another generation of kids with the same type of ignorance...
let it stop with you!
