around the world in a day
shiiiit! that's what today felt like for sure!
I was awakened at 9am to the phone ringing.
It was one of the places I applied to for a job. They wanted to schedule me for an interview for tomorrow.
Only thing was, I didn't recognize the name of the organization.
Stupid me told them, too. 'guess they weren't too happy with me for not remembering.
They scheduled me for an interview tomorrow anyway.

After I hung up, I finally put two and two together and realized
that I DID apply for this place. Only thing was, they never included the name
of the agency on the posting! okay, super ta-nga on their part!
That's why I didn't recognize the name...I never heard it before.
Anyhow, it's their fault for not posting a thorough job description. It was literally 4 lines long.

So...that was that.

Then, I got ready for my job interview in the city...at this chiropractic office.
Oh my god, can I just say that was the worst interview ever!
First of all, I came in 15 min. early (good for me).
They made me fill out a stupid application when I already turned in a cover letter and resume

on a side note: why the hell do certain employers still require you to fill out an
application when you've already given them your resume?
ya, ya, it probably has to
do with some legal thing, but shit, it don't make any sense!!!!!!

anyhoo..so by the time i finished it was like 1:05p and my interview was scheduled for 1p.
dude...almost 20 minutes go by and still no lady to interview me. then she finally shows up,
calls me into her office, doesn't ask me a thing about myself, gives me a 3 minute schpeel
about a) the open shifts, b) the pay, c) the type of massage clients they get....
and that's it!!!!! period. no room for me to ask any questions. the idiot pretty much just got up and tended to her
client.

*shakes head*

ok so I think I have a job, since she said she'd call me when they schedule a client
during my shift. But everything happened so fast that I didn't even have time to blink!

ok..
a) the woman has no sense of time management
b) she obviously doesn't really give a shit about me and
c) why would I want to work in a place that barely gives me the time of day (even if I was hired)
...shiiit...even a hooker gets more attention from her pimp!

The funny thing is, this wasn't my first encounter with her.
A few years back, I entered my name at the local 24 hour fitness, for
a free chiropractic exam from her...and I won.
After going through my exam, she said I needed treatment and tried to impose on me
to get one....even though I kept telling the ignoramous that I couldn't afford $20 per
adjustment since I was an AmeriCorps member living off of $6.50 an hour.
Then, she starts telling me all kinds of things about her "high overhead", yadda yadda yadda...
Umm...I thought there was no obligation for me to get treatment just because I won. hello!

Anyhoo...maybe I should stick to my guns.
If I wasn't happy with her the first time I met her
and if the second meeting was still crappy,
ERGO
I should tell the lady to shove the job up her hiney.
Ok, ok, maybe I won't say it like that, but you get the picture.

*sigh*

so after walking in the rain back to my car,
I devoured the tuna salad I packed. I was starvin' like marvin!
Then, I decided to drive to the place where I would have my interview for tomorrow.
So I drove my ass from the city back to the east bay.
Luckily, it wasn't that difficult to find the place.
Good luck to me tomorrow morning, though.
My interview's at 8a, so lucky me gets to drive through all that lovely 880 traffic.

Then, back across the Bay Bridge I went.
I had a massage session at a client's house later in the evening in the city,
so it didn't really make sense for me to drive all the way back home.
I ended up at the gym.
worked out for a couple of hours and then soaked in the hot tub
for about 15 min.
I was careful not to inhale too deeply, cause the chlorine always
goes into my lungs and makes me cough like crazy.
Nevertheless, it felt so good on my muscles, especially my back,
which has been bothering me for the last 2 nights now.

Afterwards, i got ready. hopped in my car.
'decided to check my messages at home and guess what?
I got a call for another interview!!!!
its at the charter school..the job I really really want!
My interview with them is friday....another 8am interview. :(

I got so excited that i decided to treat myself to my favorite
Vietnamese rolls: the "summer rolls" at Hung Yen on 18th and Harrison.
But to my dismay, Hung Yen was replaced by another Vietnamese restaurant.
I WAS CRUSHED!!!!!

I'm telling you, those are the best Vietnamese rolls in the world! They add a little special something
in this roll...I think it's fried shallots and roasted soy bean powder. Not too sure, but
whatever it is, it's soooo delicious!
Oh, and their Spicy Beef Noodle Soup is to die for! Actually, this is what Hung Yen is
best known for.
It even got an awesome review in The Gaurdian.

Anyhoo, i asked the new owners what happened and basically the old owners simply
got tired of running the business. They apparently have been around for like 15 years.
Since the new owner was a friend of the old owner, the old owner sold him the space.
It's not bad. 'definitely a lot better looking...even though the place still needs a little color.
I was sad that they didn't have the famous "summer rolls" on their menu,
but I made do with their spring rolls. it was good. but the Hung Yen summer roll still takes the cake.

After dinner, I saw one of my regular clients for about an hour.
Then, drove home.

another early morning
So that was my day. 'Spent all day driving all over the freakin' place!
I'm not tired, though.
But I still need to hem the pants that I'm gonna wear tomorrow.
I've got the interview at 8a and then drive back by my place to work
my temp assignment for 4 hours. (11-3p)
not bad.
only bad thing is, I gotta dress business professional.
eck! I hate that crap! 'Don't understand why I gotta look all prissy when
all I'm gonna do for 4 hours is answer the damn phone.

oh well, at least it's a job. and a job = $$$..which is something I need pretty
badly right now.

off I go to sewing land.......
