yay for spontaneity!/welcome 2003
so after I finished typing my last entry yesterday, I still (for the life of me)
could not figure out what the hell to do to celebrate new year's.
but I did play DDR for my workout (1 hr) and did some situps...
and was happily surprised to hear the garage door open at around 4p.
my BF was home early!!!! yay!!!!

we actually had a choice between going to City Beach for a cocktail party (FREE)
or go see "Catch Me if you Can" at the movies.
We decided on the latter....and it was soooo worth it. awesome movie! awesome story!
I'm interested to find out more about this Frank Abagnale dude.

We then drove home and debated on what to do next.
Mainly, we were going back and forth on whether to go to Treasure Island
to watch the fireworks at midnight.
After 30 minutes of going back and forth, we finally decided: yay we're going!!!!
Thank goodness we did, cause it was soooo worth it, too.

We only had 10 min, to get everything ready:
* his camera and tripod (he wanted to take some night shots),
* food (we grabbed corn nuts, wheat thins, salmon spread-yum!, water and a bottle of coke...hella random, but that's all we had)
* our jackets
* a couple of blankets
It was like going on a little adventure! hehehe!

When we got to Treasure Island, there were already a lot of people
sitting on the rocks along the water front.
It was really cool.
some folks were hangin' out in their parked cars eating and/or blasting their stereo system.

My bf and I found a clear spot to position the camera and tripod
and a nice flat rock for me to plant my ass on for the next hour or so until midnight.
Slowly, the cars kept coming and more people gathered around us.
I really didn't expect there to be so many people, but man....there were TONS!!!!

I didn't know it turned midnight until the fireworks started
and then everyone started yelling and screaming "happy new year!!!"
The fireworks were awesome!
They were closer to the Embarcadero than to us, but we saw everything just fine.
My bf took a bunch of shots of it.
And when they were over, we took a couple of timed shots of us, too. Those are for the memory books.

Then, we crossed the street to our car and
feasted on our baon.
We ate the corn nuts first because they were round...and supposedly you're supposed
to eat round stuff on the new year for good luck.
Then we pigged out on the crackers and salmon spread...it was heaven!...while
we reminisced about 2002 and looked forward to 2003.

It was perfect timing, cause once we finished our little meal,
all the traffic had died down..all the people were gone.
So we made our way home with ease...but fighting Mr. Sandman the whole way!

Then, sleep.

It wasn't as wild and crazy as my cousin's NYE,
but it was well worth the drive and cold.
gotta love those spontaneous moments.
we both vowed to have more of those in 2003.

and now...sunshine and a cloudless sky. what more can you ask for on the first day of the new year?

I'm off to my bf's aunt's house,
see one of my newborn nephews,
and shop at Fry's (for my bf's stuff).

til later....
